Classic 7 Layer Salad Recipe

🛒 Ingredients:

  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, washed and torn into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
  • 2 large tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup frozen peas (thawed)
  • 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6–8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

For the Dressing:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Layer the Salad: In a large clear glass bowl or trifle dish, start by adding the lettuce as the base layer.
  2. Add the Eggs: Spread the chopped hard-boiled eggs evenly over the lettuce.
  3. Layer Tomatoes: Sprinkle the chopped tomatoes on top of the eggs.
  4. Add Peas & Onion: Next, add the peas followed by the chopped red onion.
  5. Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  6. Spread the Dressing: In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sour cream, sugar, salt, and pepper. Gently spread the dressing over the top layer of cheese, sealing the edges.
  7. Finish with Bacon: Sprinkle crumbled bacon on top.
